Meet the Team – Jo

Jo is the next RTGWFC volunteer in the profile spotlight!

Jo became involved with RTGWFC when her daughter, Kerri, joined the club over 6 years ago. Jo is very new to the “official” club volunteer role, starting at the beginning of this season.   Initially, like most club volunteers, Jo took on the traditional parent role of side-line cheerleader and unpaid taxi driver.

However, the now familiar tale of stepping into one simple, straightforward role, only to find it growing and developing is true for Jo.

Jo started by assisting on the pitch gate on a Friday evening to ensure all our young players got to their sessions safely and on time.   Jo was there to welcome new members and their parents on their first visit to our club.

This role naturally progressed into the management of club registrations which involves working with other RTGWFC volunteers with regards to membership and league registrations.

Jo is very welcoming and approachable and is a fantastic ambassador for the club.   She is very popular with our younger Wildcat members and due to this, it seemed logical for Jo to take on the essential role of club welfare lead.

As welfare lead, Jo works with our other club welfare officers, to ensure that our members, parents, visitors and volunteers are safe and supported. This covers training sessions, match days, social events etc.

Jo also has responsibility for ensuring all relevant qualifications our volunteers require – as mandated by the FA – are up to date.   There are a wide range of qualifications and certificates that our volunteers need to hold, from first aid and safeguarding for coaches, to welfare officer workshops and DBS checks.

Jo enjoys working with all the volunteers at RTGWFC and is always there with a smile on her face and an ear to lend.

“I enjoy the community side of things; the club feels very much like a family. It’s good fun getting involved in things and I am looking forward to helping put in place all the exciting plans we have for next season”
