AFC Market Bosworth u11s v Rugby Town Girls u11s

Sunday brought a cold but bright sunny day as the return game between these two sides took place in Newbold Verdon.

With a full squad to choose from, Lila and Jasmine started on the bench, which meant that some players found they were not playing in their usual positions from the outset.

But this did not appear to be an issue as Rugby started very well and played some lovely passing football which soon had the Market Bosworth defence back pedalling.

The midfield of Madi, Marley and Holly were quite dominant whilst the defence of Rosie and Katie were rarely troubled. A few clear cut chances were now being made and Melissa was usually on the end of them as Rugby continued to play good attacking football.

The Market Bosworth keeper was being kept very busy and from one corner pulled off a great save to prevent an own goal being conceded. At the other end Jenna was virtually a spectator but on the occasions a through ball did pierce the Rugby defence, she was on hand to clear it up and launch another attack from her long kicks.

Jasmine and Lila had joined in the action by now and the balance of the team changed as Marley moved to the back to replace Katie. Rugby continued to make the better chances as half time approached with Melissa and Madi both going close.

Rugby started the second half much like the first and once again were playing good passing football. Melissa was still posing the Market Bosworth defence all sorts of problems which was compounded by the fact they were having problems clearing their lines.

Shots were coming in from all angles now and Jasmine ,Madi and Lila with a header could have increased the score.

However Market Bosworth did rally and started to stretch the Rugby defence with attacks of their own, only to find a resolute Jenna in their path and nothing was conceded.

Overall a very good game which again produced some very good football and individual performances.
