We are so proud of this team!
They are going from strength to strength. They were determined from the off. The opposition had requested a game of 4 quarters, which from previous experience doesn’t sit well with our girls but we obliged.
With Megan starting the first quarter in goal, Chloe, Freya, Anna and Matilda took their positions on the pitch. Some superb passing and defending took place which even impressed the under 16s that had come along to warm them up and support them. Maddie soon came on for Anna making her debut for Rugby Town. With Holly coming on to take her position in defence.
Matilda took the 2nd quarter in goal and literally laid on the ball when it came near her.
With a couple of successful runs from Chloe and Freya battling until she found gap in the oppositions defence the girls were playing like a team older than their years.
Holly then took the 3rd quarter in goal with Maddie and Anna in defence. These girls were not phased by the opposition or the crowd that had gathered.
Chloe took the 4th quarter in goal and the most superb piece of teamwork for a group of 7 year olds happened, with a cross in to Matilda, a pass to Freya and straight to Megan to finish the job.
The girls impressed Jason, the parents, the under 16s coach and the young leaders.
I am looking forward to seeing where these girls can go. You can see from the way they warm themselves up, pass the ball, position themselves and never give up that they listen and take in every piece of advice and training they are given.
Thank you to Kerry for being our referee and to all the parents for you support. A special thanks to Stu too.
