Rugby Town Girls u10’s welcomed Groby Juniors u10’s Vixens to Kilsby Lane this weekend and another sticky pitch to play on but slightly better than the previous week.
With another full squad to choose from, squad rotation was again used at every opportunity and wholesale changes were made throughout the game with the aim to give all the girls equal time on the pitch and in different positions, it disrupted the balance of the team a little at times but the girls settled in and coped with it eventually.
The first 10 minutes were quite evenly balanced between the 2 teams with some nice passing moves, end to end play and both teams battling for dominance.
Melissa and Jasmine were always an attacking threat going forward throughout the game, supported by captain Lila, Holly, Madi, Poppy and Lois. Groby’s defensive unit worked tirelessly with some great tackling and ball winning and some excellent stops by the opposition keeper who had a superb game in goal showing absolutely no fear and keeping Groby in the game. Katie, Marley and Rosie played well at the back with another solid defensive display and with our own superb keeper Jenna putting in some brave block stops against the Groby attacks that occasionally got through.
Overall, another great performance from the u10’s with some decisive passing moves starting from the back moving through to the forward line. We looked a much better organised team defending throw ins, corners and free kicks, picking up opposition players quicker and closing the ball down sooner. Our hard work in training is looking better with every team performance each week and also some excellent dance move celebrations thrown in after each goal too. Well done team!
Parents player of the match awarded to Holly and coaches player of the match awarded to Jasmine, well done girls!
