The U13s kept up their 100% record this Sunday with another spirited team performance. There was a great turnout of 13 players who all played their part in what was the team’s first match in 4 weeks. The team largely controlled the game but there were plenty of times the defence had to be alert and strong to thwart Marlborough attacks with captain Ella time and again winning the ball in the early stages.
Hannah had hit the bar with a powerful left-footed drive before Jodie struck a thunderbolt into the top corner midway through the first half which settled the team. Molly added 2 more goals before half time including a great chipped shot which meant the players went into the break happy with their efforts so far. Many more substitions and position changes in the second half meant the players had to adapt and particular credit goes to Amber who came out of goal to put in an imperious performance in defence and Savannah who played an unfamiliar central defensive role very well as well as Jodie who followed her first half goal with a clean sheet in goal.
To emphasise the team’s domination the final goal was scored which was again another different type of goal as Charlotte powered in a header from a corner.
The girls are in a great position now to keep on improving and impressing as this was still only their third game together and the start to the season has been excellent.
