Team Sponsors: Hamilton Medical and Life Investment Estate Agents
Semi final day and the team and coach had done a fantastic job getting to this stage in the 23-24 cup. Pre-match you could sense the nerves and excitement as we looked to play Croft U10 Bluebelles.
As predicted this match was a very even affair, with both teams equally competing hard for the ball and trying to record the first goal throughout the first period. As the first half ended both teams had played well with a level score line and still awaiting to make the breakthrough despite some excellent chances.
As the second half started the game immediately opened up and Croft took the initiative to take the lead. Almost immediately Rugby Town equalized with a determined nice strong finish. Building on this position, Rugby then got a nose in front with a second goal to lead this exciting cup fixture. As Croft pressure returned and Rugby looking for a third with tired legs Croft managed to somehow find an equalizer to ensure the match ended on an equal footing between two very evenly matched teams.
This then resulted in what most teams dread the lottery of a penalty shoot out!! Full credit must go out to the girls that stepped forward to take the penalties and despite this bravery we unfortunately failed to progress to the final. Brilliant game and a real cup match between two hardworking teams.
Parents player: the whole team for a hard fought performance.
Coach player: Sienna M. and Izzy for their perseverance and hustle to make the necessary tackles.
