The girls found themselves drawn in the cup against Nuneaton Borough with home advantage and having played each other recently home and away we knew would be another tight affair.
Rugby started with Norah in goal, Poppy and Olivia in defence a midfield three of Ellie, Bella and Gracie with Millie leading the line.
As expected, the first half was tight with both teams expressing their hold on the game and remained goal less for the first 20 minutes thanks to some great saves by Norah and the Borough keeper, a few changes with Sophie and Izzy introduced.
Millie had a long range effort which cannoned off the post out for a goal kick which nearly broke the deadlock and again hit a similar shot hit same post and this time went in just before half time 1-0 Rugby.
The Second half started with a downpour of rain and developed a similar pattern to the first half but thanks to some great follow up Sophie put Rugby 2 up. Following this was a flurry from Borough but thanks to some great defending by Poppy and Olivia and saves from Norah, Rugby kept them at bay but a break saw Borough half the deficit 2-1.
This helped drive Rugby on and some strong play from Ellie and Millie saw Millie restore our two goal lead 3-1. Rugby then saw out the exciting encounter and progress through into the next round.
CPOM: Ellie, played on the wing to start and look at home again in the middle with some strong drives and hold up play.
PPOM: Norah, when asked was big and strong with some great saves.
