On a warm but overcast afternoon Rugby Towns, U10s girls were at home after the international break and it was good to be back after a week of rest.
We faced familiar and strong opposition against Epworth Forest U10s Foxes. In a similar way to the last match, the Rugby Town girls again set to work in the first half with an industrious display whilst effectively moving the ball forward to ensure the ball was predominantly kept in the attacking third. From central, wide, and attacking positions and play this was effective with some excellent passing that deserved greater reward.
With the Epworth defensive line and keeper having an excellent game holding back the waves of attacking football from Rugby. However. Perseverance was excellent. It w proved difficult to replicate such a display in the second half as legs tired on both sides but the Rugby midfield, defense, and keeper battled for every ball throughout in a very accomplished way. This was critical as the Epworth Foxes stepped up its attacking style in the last phase of the match.
As the game came to an end, both teams had again served up a highly entertaining game with strong control and discipline throughout aligned to great maturity and positional play. Again, another excellent overall display this season with real strength in character, and real depth in play. Well done team.
POM: Emy-Mae and Izzy for solid defensive teamwork, composure, and individual strength on and off the ball. Parents Player: Sienna.W , Hardworking e2e display whilst operating effectively in wide positions to make a difference with real teamwork.
