This Sunday the match was postponed by the opposition. Because the girls are eager to play, we invited all players to a match as we have new girls attending the club and it was a good opportunity for them to gain match experience.
Vienna made her debut in the match, the rest being existing team members for a 5 v 5 game of 20 minutes each way. Young leaders Chloe (referee) and Robyn (coach) were participating to help with their development paths as well.
As both teams settled into the game, I think they forgot they were playing against their team as you could not tell any difference from how they play against an opposition. Both teams used several keepers from Heide, Amelie, Millie, Ariya to Aaliyah, all the keepers gave great displays of confidence in front of shots and then distribution of the ball.
On the pitch, as both teams had no subs, they learned about rotation to different positions, supporting teammates in different positions, or being that support for a pass further up the pitch.
The passing and skill rate per player increases in every match, along with Millie’s running with the ball, Heidi’s pace and shooting, and Aaliyah receiving a forward pass and going for a goal. The strength of Liyanah on the ball or the support of all teammates Lorna. The calm of Mia tackling and passing. Ariya’s tackling and dribbling and Amelie’s defending and goalkeeping.
Thank you everyone for Sunday, it was great to get the girls playing longer in a match and we as coaches learned so much about all the girls, also the girls had a valuable coaching session for their development.
Vienna – coaches’ player of the match for the bravery shown in playing her first game
Lily – Parents player, skills on the pitch for fun
Millie – Outstanding running the ball and strength
The team makes the short trip to Dunton & Broughton United next Sunday for a 9.30 a.m. Kick Off
