This was Rugby Towns U10’s second home game of the season, so it was good to be back on the home astro surface of the lower pitch. The weather for October was also very hot for both teams and this was a replay of the opening match of the season, in terms of the weather and the same opposition as we faced a strong Asfordby Superstars U10’s team.
From the opening minutes the Rugby Town girls set to work with a hardworking narrative and drive to ensure the ball moved forward into the attacking third. This was blended with a strong control and discipline throughout the opening period by each player. Whilst also creating numerous chances despite an equally hardworking display from the away team.
Rugby Town girls also had excellent strength at the back that ran right through the entire midfield positions to ensure we maintained extensive periods of possession and effective play. As the teams ended the first half the parents and coaches of both teams had witnessed a highly entertaining end to end energetic and battling first half display.
The second half started in a similar high temp manner, with the Rugby girls pushing the ball forward at every available opportunity but equally being ready to defend with strong goal keeping and defensive line.
This strength blended with some beautiful passing ensured the team built on its past success with some fast runs into the box from the middle and wide positions. As the game ended the girls reflected on an excellent overall display despite being made to work hard by an excellent away team right until the final whistle.Throughout the game all the girls showed excellent technical abilities and an amazing work rate in difficult hot conditions in the midday sun against a very good team. In many ways it had the feeling of an exciting cup match and both teams should be complemented for making it so entertaining for the watching parents.
Special thanks also needs to bemade to the parents and coach for building the U10 rubik’s cube goal puzzle before thematch kicked off.
Managers Players: Eve, for a strong performance battling hard for possession, and improvement in positioning. Parents Player: Sienna.M , Hardworking and technical display throughout the game with effective fast battling runs in the attacking half.
