Rugby Town u14s hosted AFC Andrews for their first home gameof the season. Having suffered a loss in their first game of the season, Rugbywith a full match day squad, were looking to bounce back.

The game got off to a high tempo, and both teams playing well, however it was AFC Andrews who took the lead. This was now crucial moment forRugby, as they could have let their heads drop after last week, and allow AFCAndrews to take control. However they did not panic, and kept up their efforts.

Players were rotated, which was important, due to the high temperature. This wasa major plus from the previous week, and with this change and fresh legs, Rugbywere able to capitalise. A lovely through ball forward from El to Matilda, allowed Matilda to use her strength and skill to grab a well deserved Rugbyequaliser.
Both teams now believed they could win, and some great playfrom both teams continued.

At half time Rugby were confident that they had put lastweek behind them, and their self belief returned. It was great to see this, butalso they did not take anything for granted, and kept up their work rate.

As the second half developed, it was clear that Rugby wereslowly taking control of the game. However there were chances to both teams, soit was vital the Rugby defence kept up their efforts. Tanisha also had a stronggame, and her confidence grew throughout the match.

Rugby’s attack which was being led by Aga, was now makingsome lovely forward passes and Poppy, Matilda and Aga all had great chances. However Aga made it 2-1, with some great team play, but AFC Andrews were stillhaving their own chances, and were still hoping to draw level. However Aga onceagain ran on to a lovely forward pass, to make it 3-1 and secure the 3pts forRugby. However it was great to see that these goals were from some lovely teamplay.
