An away game awaited Rugby Town U7s on this sunny, crisp morning.  Rugby arrived with a full squad meaning there were plenty of opportunity to rotate the team and introduce fresh legs to the game.  Today’s game was played across four 10-minute quarters.

Rugby started the game with Paige as goalkeeper, Charlotte in defence, Maisie B and Maisie F in midfield with Flossy as striker.  The second quarter saw the introduction of Sophie, Primrose, Lorna, Ada and Imogen and throughout the game all girls interchanged and interacted brilliantly.

Some highlights from the match included, and in no particular order:

  • Outstanding goalkeeping by Paige throughout who once again demonstrated lots of bravery and astute positional awareness.
  • Some great defensive blocks and clearances from Charlotte who always positions herself well when playing in defence.
  • Endless energy and tenacity by Flossie who made several impressive attacking runs through the game.
  • Great tackling and attacking runs by Maisie B and who played well in midfield throughout the game.
  • Ada making some good defensive blocks but also demonstrating some good link up play when in an attacking position.
  • Excellent positional play by Primrose, who made several wonderful runs at goal.  Primrose also played one quarter as goalkeeper and made several crucial blocks.
  • Maisie F displaying her usual enthusiasm and determination when running with the ball and being a constant attacking threat.
  • Strong running and tackling by Imogen
  • Brilliant attacking runs by Sophie
  • Lorna defending well and neutralising a number of the opponent’s attacks.

A  hugely enjoyable game to watch.

Coaches player of the match went to Imogen for her positive attacking play.

Parents player of the match went to Maisie B for her all-round good play.

Players’ player of the match was shared between Sophie and Maisie F.

Thanks as always to parents/carers for their continued support.  See you next week.
