On a crisp, sunny Sunday morning the girls headed up to Leicester for their first-ever away game. They were hosted by East Goscote United who came to Rugby just last week.
There was a fantastic turnout with 9 squad players available and lots of excitement in the air ahead of the match.
Despite the unfamiliar surroundings, the girls got stuck in right from the off with fantastic midfielder by Maisie and Flossie, breakthrough attacking runs by Sophie, and staunch defending by Ava, working well as a team from the start. Even the girls on the bench were showing their team spirit, cheering on from the sidelines.
Charlotte’s goalkeeping was top-notch, making a number of confident saves and frustrating the opposition with her determination.
The second half of the match was a deadlock between two really well-matched teams. Lorna and Primrose worked well together up front, supported by Phoebe and Paige in midfield, who are both growing in confidence each week.
Phoebe, Sophie, and Lorna made some fantastic long runs with the ball only to be denied by a solid opposition goalkeeper, with Maisie and Primrose again showing their confidence and determination to keep pushing.
Rugby’s goalkeeping was again fantastic, with Flossie and Ava both putting in solid performances.
