With Leicestershire half term being a week ahead, it was a fabulous opportunity to have a friendly between both of the Rugby Town U11s sides.
In the driving rain and biting wind, the 1st half was played as 7-a-side and it was clear to see how much all the girls have progressed and improved over the past 9 months. Good passing, commitment in the tackles, great goalkeeping and some superb shooting. The most important part was seeing it all played with smiling faces and enjoying the game.
The second half was played as 9-a-side and was a good opportunity to prepare for next season. The teams kept their shape and the girls were really starting to demonstrate better positional awareness and movement into space. Excellent wing play, good passing and shooting with both goalkeepers making some tremendous saves.
The coaches felt that the crowd hadn’t been stood in the freezing cold quite long enough, so a penalty shootout was had to finish off the match.
