The introduction of the new U11’s subs bench was rewarded with a great match between evenly matched sides. The early part of the 1st half being a midfield battle with few clear cut chances, so to change it up Haunchwood made 3 substitutions and began to play on the counterattack. With chances at a premium, Chloe and Jasmine managed to carve out opportunities and were unlucky to shoot wide.
The opposition were making fast breaks and forcing good saves from Liv, and Freya continued with her dominant defensive display.
As Rugby began to get their passing game working with Anya and Annabelle showing their distribution skills, Ava and Ruby were able to start making their runs down the wing. A great cross, a deft touch from Chloe and Jasmine was able to finish off the move just before half time.
The tactical switch to 2 defenders enabled Rugby to soak up pressure from their opponents with Olivia showing her class with her cool head and positioning. With Erin making forward runs taking defenders out of the way, Ava and Ruby continued to run, dribble and shoot with a superb finish from Ruby from outside the area being a reward for her energy. With the game entering its final minutes, Ruby forced a smart save from the goalkeeper who was unlucky to spill the ball with Jasmine being able to capitalise on the opportunity.
