Rugby Towns first home game of the season started in the rain but brightened up and turned into a pleasant morning down at Butlin Road. Another exciting game was on the cards and another player, Paige, with a club debut.

Summary

Rugby Town 0 – 3 Blaby and Whetstone

This was the first time the U15s have played an 11 a side game on the large astro pitch at Butlin Road and they generally coped very well with the space available, using 4,1,3,2 formation, against a strong Blaby side.

Communication was better and there were some good combination plays being developed. Some work needs to be done by the squad on long ball delivery, which is an area that can be easily worked into training sessions.

Positivity was high and the good work rate from all the players was great to see. A couple of little knocks on players meant rolling subs were relied on quite heavily.

The team were also observed by one of the Womens first team defenders, Grace, who offered a different insight and useful advice at half time. Grace has also kindly offered to do some training with the U15 defenders on a Friday night which is fantastic opportunity for the U15

Parents player: Lucy for some excellent defending work during the game, showing pace, commitment, and drive.

Coaches’ player: Izzy with a very commanding and controlled performance, especially in the first half.

Thank you to the all the U15 parents for your support and Manesh for running the line.
