Squad: Millie, Olivia, Sophie, Esme, Ellie, Molly, Bella, Norah
Rugby Town U8 Lionesses welcomed Coalville to Butlin Road for their latest league encounter. This was the first time the two sides had played each other.
In the first half Rugby lined up with Norah in goal, Molly in defence, Millie and Bella in midfield and Olivia upfront. Rugby enjoyed a lot of possession and were able to put in to practice a lot of the ideas they have been working on in training. Rugby created a lot of chances from corners and used their throw ins to set up attacks. When defending the girls were quick to mark up from opposition throw ins and pressed the ball quickly from restarts of play. This helped Rugby to enjoy many positive moments throughout the match.
In the second half Olivia switched into goal and Rugby continued to use long goal kicks as a strategy to create chances. Sophie and Norah interchanged playing up front. Throughout both halves Ellie, Esme, Bella and Millie switched within midfield to ensure Rugby maintained a high tempo both on and off the ball.
This was a great game to watch with both sides producing some super moments and playing in the right spirit.
Parents Player: Olivia. Olivia took up great positions when playing upfront and displayed confidence and resolve when in goal.
Manager’s Player: Millie had a great game in midfield as she regularly broke up attacks, created chances for her team mates and fired in powerful shots towards the ‘keeper.
Thank you to Young Leader Ellie for reffing with confidence and ease. And thanks to Dan for the match report
