The U9 Girls put in an excellent performance yesterday in their game against a strong Thurlaston Tigresses team. The girls stamped their authority early on in the game and some fine shots from Izzy gave the girls an early advantage. Victoria’s thunderous shot just before quarter time saw the girls further rewarded following some excellent teamplay.
Mia then went on to show she had her scoring boots on today with some fine shots from some tremendous teamplay. The girls were by now playing with great confidence. Tackles were being won, but it was the movement into space and excellent passing, stretching our opponents, that was causing a number of chances. Thurlaston took advantage of some excellent play to finish off a fine move before Maddie unleashed a tremendous shot from distance.
The girls were continuing to carve out a number of opportunities to maintain Rugby’s advantage and, towards the end of the game, Victoria unleashed another thunderbolt. Alice came so close on 2 late occasions to getting her name on the scoring sheet, and we’re sure that side of her game will soon come. It was great to see the hard work the girls put in be rewarded by such a great performance.
We would finally like to say a big thank you to our friends at Thurlaston who played some excellent football and, as ever, were wonderful hosts.
