As the season nears its end we played our last official home fixture as we say nearly goodbye to the 23-24 highly entertaining season.
East Goscote United Jaguars made the journey from north Leicestershire to face us in this morning kick off. The game was to be played on the lush surface of the lower Astro pitches that the girls always seem to enjoy.

Despite a limited warmup while goals and markers were set out, the team did not let this stop them exploding into action from the first sound of the whistle. This resulted in Rugby girls setting the tone for the game, which was maintained throughout the first period, despite a strong effort from East Goscote and a skilled goalkeeper. First half highlight was the quick time four way pass movement between 4 different players that unlocked the Goscote defence in a blink of an eye.

As the half ended the Rugby team changed things around with defenders playing in more forward positions and the normal attacking players playing in deeper roles. After a quiet opening second period the game then sprung back into life with some excellent play by the Rugby girls. With some strong runs and efforts toward the East Goscote goal. As the game ended the Rugby girls had played one of their strongest matches to date and are continuing to build solid foundations for next season. Complements must be passed to the East Goscote team who worked hard throughout the match and had some good opportunities.

With the final season game now in sight all the girls should be pleased with what they have achieved this year as individuals and as a team. Well done and a highly entertaining match.

Players player: Emy-Mae, chosen by teammates for a brilliant display of skill and effort.

Parents Player: Eve for her attacking strength and power with excellent finishing throughout.

Coach player: Esme, for demonstrating strength in defence, making tackles followed up with excellent passes. Esme also had a strong second half in goal.
