This weekends match was an away game at Epworth Forest Panthers which is always a tough fixture. The day started badly with the absence of the sausage and coffee hut!
Despite this as the girls kicked off in sunny but windy conditions and immediately went on the attack with strong pressing football with everybody playing their part. This play, possession and control on the downward slope of the pitch soon lead to Town ending the first half strongly.
As the second half kicked off play continued in a similar fashion with Rugby playing very well, with high energy levels which was nice to see after last weeks semi final disappointment.
Even when Epworth attacked and pushed forward the Rugby defence held position and controlled the game well to remove any opportunity for the home team. As the game drew to an end, Rugby maintained their midfield strength and winning the 50/50 ball, fast pace up top, with strong goal keeping and defensive line ensured Rugby girls ended the game on a high. With one of our best league performances of the season.
Well done team.

Manager’s Player: Annalise, for her determination to win the ball, movement when off the ball, and improved game IQ.
Parents player: Izzy. Great defending and positional play and ensured the ball was always moved forward to enable quick attacking play.
