The start of 2024 has seen a step up in the girls’ performance compared to the first half of the season. The way they now play is in stark contrast to their first experiences of league football last September. They are now beginning to understand the different roles on the pitch and this has been great to watch from a coach’s perspective and supporters.
Both individual and team football skills in passing and ball control shine through. All the girls showed their characteristics in the games played.
Millie, Charlotte, and Amelie have been putting in some great performances in goal. They have been working with Chloe, our young leader coach on Fridays, and this has been helping to improve their confidence and skills. The team also has 3 young leader coaches with them on Friday with Robyn (Bob) having been with them from the start. The young leaders are great at giving the girls confidence, guidance, and practice weekly.
Another notable skill of the team is the queen of the drag-backs in Lilly. The time and controlled passing of Mia. The end-to-end work rate of Heidi. The game awareness of Lorna. The left or right foot of Aaliyah and finally the dribbling skill of Liyanah. New players are also being brought into the team for the next season’s challenges of 7 a side with great learning from Grace.
It is great to see all the girls progress, which enables them to enjoy their football and develop in a whole range of areas, from communication, new friends, and self-belief to name but a few. They can all play in different positions on a pitch which gives the coaches plenty of options during games.
The team also would like to welcome Paul and Mark on board. They will be supporting the coaching, and management of the team as we keep making big strides forward in their development and ensuring the enjoyment of football stays with them.
Well done girls, keep enjoying your football.
