Today was a match between the two towns of Harborough and Rugby in a strong and cold wind that cut across the pitch, this was countered by the excellent football on display and the smell of bacon, sausage and coffee in the air from the excellent club house!!
After the pre-match warm-up the girls set to work at pace and worked hard and battled for possession whilst trying to move the ball into forward positions. Eve with a change in role played in goal for the first half and looked really confident.
Rugby Town then started to move the ball freely from deep positions to the front through the middle to open up an early advantage with some excellent wide and forward play. The hardworking display from each player and movement was a particular highlight of the first half from the Rugby Town girls. As the whistle ended the first half the girls should be pleased with how well they had worked as a unit against an equally hardworking Harborough Town.
Harborough Town started the second half well and pulled back into the game quickly which then seemed to inspire the Rugby girls in light blue to up the momentum and seek an opportunity back with numerous well worked efforts. Again similar to the first half the match was a very even affair with two hardworking teams enjoying the beautiful game. As the game ended both teams should be very proud in how they played and contributed. In summary the Rugby Town girls strength, understanding and positional play is building week by week.
Managers Players: Sienna W and Sienna M for their combination play and passing throughout, and creativity resulting in positive play.
Parents Player: Emy-Mae, Hardworking and skilful e2e display throughout that typified what EmyMae always brings to the team each week.
