After Action Review:
“Ouch 😬”
Young People 12 – 8 Old People
Experiencing conditions not a millions miles away from the quagmire of the Somme, the girls went up against the adults in the first of 4 games!
TEAM DEATHMATCH;
With some first timers, who were clearly yet to realise how much being hit hurts, the first game in the town complex was fast and frantic, with people taking multiple hits in what was absolute carnage, the game ending in a credible draw. Everyone came off with a better understanding of how to use the cover available and this showed in the next round…
TEAM DOMINANCE;
The second game continued the adults vs kids theme, but this time the girls were far more savy, and took up some excellent defensive positions. The territory containing the opponents and teams own pole was hotly contested, with the adults just edging it! 👴🏼
By now most people had taken at least one or two big hits, slipped over a handful of times, and were pretty wet through given the state of the playing surface, something we certainly don’t have to worry about for our home games! 🔫⚽
TEAM CAPTURE THE FLAG;
For the third game the teams were redrawn with a mix of kids and adults for rumble in and around a fort made from containers. This quickly turned into sniper central, where no corner was safe to hide! Paintballs rained down and everybody was fair game, whether they were re spawning, surrendering, or even on your own team! 🤣 Those wearing bands won the day…
TEAM DEATHMATCH;
The last round saw the teams take to the woods for a last hurrah before retiring for tea and medals. The game swung back and forth, and despite few kamikaze runs, neither team could take get on top in and amongst the trees! A draw, but anything but a boring one. 👏🏽
Despite the difficulties underfoot, and the sometimes painful hits, the girls didn’t moan once, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, aggression and ultimately seemed to have good fun. 👌🏼
Massive thanks to Bob for organising, we all really appreciate the effort to put this on for the team 👊🏽.
