As we arrived to our sixth consecutive away fixture of the season you could smell sausages and coffee in the air as the girls lined up to face a new opposition in Harborough Town Jnrs, playing in a smart bright yellow kit.

After the pre-match warm-up the girls set to work at pace and on reflection, probably a bit quicker than normal. Moving the ball from deep to the front using the wings effectively, with excellent wide and forward play,

Rugby Town demonstrated attacking strength from the start. The hardworking output from each player, individual movement and overall free flowing style was a particular highlight of the first half from the Rugby Town girls. This was linked to some strong goalkeeping and defensive strength at the Rugby core throughout the game.

As the whistle concluded the first half the girls should be pleased with how well they had worked as a team and unit. The second half started in a similar way with the Rugby Town girls building on its advantage, with good possession whilst evolving the passing game.

This was despite Harborough Town equally working hard to defend and bring the ball forward. The girls understanding and positional play is building week by week. As the game ended the Rugby girls carried on displaying high energy, pressing football at every moment, whilst pushing hard on the home team with an effective and energetic style.

Well done Rugby girls and another fab team performance with only one more game to go before Xmas and Santa arrives and it’s a home game!!
