Anaway game awaited Rugby Town U8s on this sunny, crisp morning. Rugby arrived with a good squad meaning there was plenty of opportunity to rotate the team and introduce fresh legs to the game.
Rugby started the game with Paige as a goalkeeper, Primrose in defence, Maisie Fand Ada in midfield with Sophie as a striker. The second quarter saw the introduction of Charlotte and Imogen and throughout the game, all girls interchanged and interacted brilliantly.
Highlights from the match included, and in no particular order:
• Brave goalkeeping by Paige throughout the first half who once again demonstrated astute positional awareness.
• Some great defensive blocks and clearances from Charlotte who always positions herself well when playing in defence. Charlotte was also an attacking threat towards the end of the match.
• Endless energy and tenacity by Primrose who defended brilliantly and made several impressive attacking runs through the game.
• MaisieF displays her usual enthusiasm and determination when running with the ball and being a constant attacking threat.
• Making some good defensive blocks but also demonstrating some good link-up play when in an attacking position.
• Strongrunning and tackling by Imogen during the second quarter.
• Brilliantattacking runs by Sophie who was an endless threat in the opponent’s half.
Overall,a hugely enjoyable one to watch.

Players’player of the match was awarded to Charlotte for her all-round good play.
