Back at home this week for the Lionesses against a good Epworth under 8s, even our tallest player only reached the shoulder of the opposition, we were still in for a great game between the two sides. The girls settled quickly into the game eager to play as usual, the girls seem to bring new skills to their game every match, this week tackling and defending.
Ariya and Lilly the two smallest in the team, were found in the middle of it seeing a different side of their maturing match play. A great bit of skill by Millie, produced a brilliant dribble (also one of the goalkeepers), from one end to the other fending off the tackles. The strength off the ball also was a great factor for all the girls shown best of all by Lorna’s defending.
Mia dropped in goal in the 2nd half to display her keeper skills, Aaliyah, Heidi, and Liyanah being their usual busy selves, with great running with the ball in forward positions, and the passing rate keeps going up in every game.
Another highlight was the skills on display from Lily, who gathered the ball, others came in to tackle, and a casual drag back and change of direction for all to follow before she produced another drag back inside to escape leaving everyone, admired by everyone such was applause from the spectators.
Thank you, Epworth for a great game of football and showcase to all supporters on the day.
