Another week of firsts for the little under 8s lionesses’. Their first away match, on grass, in the wind and rain, and an early 9.30 am kick-off
Still, we get the excited faces at the pitch side eager to play and disappointed ones that missed out due to illness or away. We know the girls can play well and it is a case of continuing to learn all over the pitch as a whole team and providing opportunities to learn each position.
A regular between the sticks is Milly providing a great performance, then a first-time for Heidi in goal with Milly taking to the pitch for more practice.
The skills and determination just to play football the right way were evident from all the girls even in the difficult conditions, not being able to use much of their passing skills demonstrated in recent weeks on the small, wet pitch was tough at times. As the game became more of a “where is the ball?” so not the most pretty of games to watch in the weather conditions. Still, they will have come out of the match more the wiser and gaining valuable knowledge to keep taking them forward in development terms.
Well done to all the girls and of course the parents supporting the girls in the weather conditions.
