What was forecast to be a wet and drizzly day turned out to be a mild, bright and sunny match with the spirit of our players we were full of energy ready to go.
A fast pace game consisting of two 20 minutes halves. It was a great game to watch, packed full of exciting moments as each girl rose to the challenge no matter what position our coach Jerome asked them to play. Keen to give each player a brief turn in goal and therefore more time on the pitch our girls adapted well and remained in control and held possession throughout the match.
With almost a full squad every player took the chance to show great skills and determination. Scarlett was brave and quick to respond in goal, scooping the ball from the ground when needed. Mabel did a great job in defence and upfront. Lily, as ever, did a fantastic job making strong passes forward and determined runs across the pitch and played with boundless enthusiasm and passion for the game. Lexi made some great passes and superb control. Erin showed impressive skill from the end, great ball skills always with a fierce determination. May supported well and demonstrated moving into space and clear communication with team mates when asking for the ball. Peggy had relentless energy and super control and skill in all positions she was asked to play. Laura is growing in confidence, making great runs, putting the opposition under pressure and not giving up, always trying to find a pass forward. Saanvi remained calm and in control making some key runs from end to end and always looking for a pass or giving it her very best shot.
The opposition didn’t have any subs but they did not let that hold them back. They were fast on the ball and quick to react making speedy runs and strong passes up the line. It was an enjoyable match to watch as all girls seemed to be loving every moment on the pitch. A good challenge that tested the girls and brought out our competitive spirit.
The girls continue to improve their communication and passing game, well done all.
A tough call this week for POM as all girls played a hugely important role and worked well as a team. POM went to Laura.
