The U10s travelled to the short distance across town to Rugby Borough with a starting team of Norah in goal, Poppy and Bella in defence a midfield of Gracie, Ellie and Olivia and up front Millie. Sophie bravely on bench not feeling great
After last weeks cup exit it was back to basics in a this Derby match. Borough began strong and Town’s resolve was put to the test with some strong interceptions from Bella and Poppy assisted by the midfield trio, seeing Ellie and Olivia tracking and blocking and Gracie chasing down but when they did break the resolve some sterling work was delivered by Norah.
Town stood up to the challenges of Borough who were rotating using their full squad, Town bought on Sophie for Bella and battled to half time.
The second half saw the visitors really come into their own with some stunning footwork at the back from Poppy, the midfield working hard covering and chasing with some strong driven runs from Ellie, whilst Millie was giving the Borough defence nightmares upfront. It was a real spectacle of a game and the coaches
couldn’t have asked more from the girls who continued to battle and work hard until the final whistle.
POM: Poppy, was captain for match and led by example at the back a sterling display in defence
PPOM: This could not be decided as far too many good performances so whole squad for the determined hard work throughout.
