Kick -off 10:30am October 30th 2022 Match 5
Squad: Esme, Phoebe, Sienna W., Sienna M., Emilia, Emy-Mae, Alexis, Roisin,
Rugby Town’s third home match of the season with 9 players available to play, which allowed the managers to field different teams and formations throughout the match. It was a very entertaining game to watch with some exciting end to end and fast-paced football. Coalville U9’s, playing in black and white stripes, also worked hard to produce an exciting match with plenty of action.
The game started with Phoebe in goal, Sienna W. and Sienna M. up front, with Emy-Mae and Izzy playing in a deeper and overlapping role for the first 10 minutes of the game. Constant pressure and nice passing football was the tone of the first period and this resulted in some nice play and some good efforts on goal to Rugby’s advantage. After 10 minutes, player rotations brought on Emilia, Alexis, and Roisin with Izzy remaining on the field, and the strength and positive play continued with good movement into space, creating more opportunity for link up passes.
At half-time Esme played in goal and with some more changes, Rugby Town continued to control and dominate the early second half with an all-out attacking style. Moving into the last 10 minutes, a change in refreshed legs and tactics to ensure the pace was maintained throughout the game and every player had plenty of game time. In the final minutes, Coalville stepped up with added strength and swift passing, showing Rugby Town how effective they were on counter-attack throughout the match, something our team could look to build on for future matches. Especially next week when the return fixture is played at the Ravens Home ground.
In summary, the whole team played well, with a solid and entertaining performance and already this season the Rugby U9’s are proving that they are a competitive team in this league.
Managers Players: Emilia, for her high pressure on and off the ball, and improved attacking strength.
Parents Player: Izzy, for her non-stop hard work, putting in the tackles, and her battling display throughout.
