A misty November morning and the U8’s yellow team were raring to go, full of beans and eager play. It’s fair to say it was a challenge for both the players and the supporters to embrace the ‘Silent Supporters’ code of conduct for this match. Not only were the girls ball skills tested but they were also having to communicate more as a team and put into play the skills and drills practiced in training without having both parent and coach instruction throughout.
We were challenged in defence and upfront. Dunton & Broughton were quick to respond and vigilant on the ball, seizing opportunities to gain control. The girls dug deep and kept a positive and measured resilience to a fast paced match.
Mabel was our player of the day, demonstrating some great determination to retreat and help defend during play and she was brave on the ball. Evelyn was on point and showed some great control. Lexi made some great passes to fellow team mates upfront that were narrowly missed opportunities. Peggy showed impressive resilience after taking a few hard blows in the midst of the game, always bouncing back with a positive attitude. Saanvi once again showed all round good skills, changing up position and trying to hold our shape on the pitch. Lily didn’t stop trying and was always looking for the best place to direct the ball. May placed herself well and improved her focus. Scarlett’s long and fast legs were always quick to respond in defence. A tough match with lots of encouraging individual moments.
Plenty of fun was had by all.
