Rugby started with Norah in goal, a back 2 of Olivia and Poppy, a midfield 3 of Ellen, Bella and Gracie and Millie upfront. Rugby started really brightly and used their energy to make great runs into space. Olivia was playing calmly and with assurance as she continually played the ball smartly in to the channels. Any attacks that slipped through our midfield were mopped up well by Poppy and Norah. Rugby continued to cause problems especially down the left wing with Millie and Ellen linking up well. Following some road closure issues, Ellie joined us in midfield and her and Gracie’s energy and closing down caused confusion in the Kibworth box.
By the second half a few line up changes saw Sophie move up front and Emma playing in midfield. Rugby continued to enjoy a lot of possession and create good attacks. Ellie put some great crosses in to the box and Sophie was able to demonstrate her smart positioning in the box. Throughout the game, Rugby created great opportunities from corners, which was great to see as we have been working on that in training.
All in all, an enjoyable match played in the right spirit by both sides with good football shown by both teams.
