Rugby Town u13s Lionesses travelled away today, on the back of a great start to the season, having won all their games.
Rugby started the game well, and were having the best of the game in the first half. Rugby were passing the ball well and creating a number of great chances. Rugby did open the scoring with a well taken goal by Jess, and Rugby were looking solid, but unfortunately missed a few chances to extend their lead.
Attleborough did have a couple of chances, but Rugby dealt with them well. However a goal mouth scramble in the Rugby goal mouth did allow the home team to equalise, despite being initially cleared off the line.
Rugby continued to show what they could do with some nice team passing, and were still the better side. This was rewarded with a second Rugby goal by Jess.
Rugby seemed to have done enough to have taken all 3pts, however Rugby failed to clear the ball out for a throw in, deep in their own half. This allowed an attempt on the Rugby goal, which unfortunately rolled across the line, with only a minute left to play. This unfortunately didn’t give Rugby time to try and get a third.
Despite the draw, Rugby remain the only unbeaten team in the league.
Final score 2-2
Parents player: Katie for a strong midfield performance, with important tackles and lovely distribution.
Managers player: Agga for a strong performance in attacking midfield.
Thank you to Pete for assisting and running the line, and thanks to the parents for their fantastic support of the girls.
