‘Twas a fresh autumn morning and although looking a little sleepy still it was a pacy start by Rugby with plenty of early pressure.

A couple of gilt-edge chances went missing – with the girls perhaps still asleep a little.

The girls went in at half time with nothing in it between the two sides, but all could see it was there for the girls to win it or lose it for themselves.

Immediately more purpose was shown in the second half and the pressure paid off with a great goal by Poppy smashing it past the keepers left side.

Soon after some more aggressive and hungry team play had all parents putting all their mortgages on a second goal piercing the net, but effort sadly just fizzed wide of the upright.

Once Rugby got their hungry streak and went at the more physical opposition, they looked like they would make it way more comfortable last ten minutes for the parents and coaches but in the end they had to just settle for the one goal advantage to the end.

The defence were superb today with some strong tackling from Amelia and great recovery as always by Daisy May.

They battled through the last bit of pressure from the opposition with the final score remaining at 1-0.

A great game where it was totally evident that when up for it and finally awake these girls are gonna fly!

Parents we need to get these girls fed, awake and ready on Sunday mornings.

Player of match – Daisy-may, Amelia
