Rugby Town u12s were effectively a new team for the 2021/22 season, with many of the girls completely new to football.
The girls have all worked really hard throughout the season. This has led to a tremendous improvement across the board both as individuals and as a team.
The Green league was large and competitive this season, with teams playing over 20 games.
The team were quite competitive in many games during the season, having been involved in some very close games where they were they were arguably the better team.
With their first season under their belts they are now looking forward to the new season.
Supporters player: Eleanor
El has had a fantastic season, and has grown in confidence during the season. This reflected on her performances where she has played consistently well throughout the season, and her improved skill on the ball has been great to see. Also she was vital in midfield, being involved in both attack and defence.
Player’s Player: Alice
Alice played her first football this season, and through great determination has really improved to become a strong player, with a great work ethic. She has made herself a popular member of the team.
Most Improved Player: Amelia
Amelia joined the team for her first full season, and showed early signs of what she was capable of. She is very fast, but as the season progressed, her skills on the ball improved to the point she is a real threat in a game, with the ball at her feet.
Manager’s Player: Emmi
With the season about to start the team was without a goalkeeper. Emmi, having joined the team during the previous season playing in midfield, decided she wanted to try goalkeeping. This was to be a very good decision, as she has turned out to be a very capable goalie, and has excelled in the role, with positive comments being made by a number of opposition managers during season.
Team top scorer: Jess
Jess has worked hard in a lone striker roll this season. She has shown great patience in many games, and waited for the moment to strike. She showed real improvement during the season, by holding her position and allowing the midfield to supply her opportunities.
I would like to thank Pete Berridge for joining the team and assisting me in both coaching the girls. Also running the line during the season.
Also a big thanks to the parents for their fantastic support of the team.
Thank you to the team sponsor: Ford Bros Building and Electrical
The girls are looking forward to the new season, and continued improvement.
