Rugby Town Girls U10 v Asfordby (League Cup)

The U10 Girls advanced to the Quarter Final of The League Cup on Sunday.

The Town Girls began the game on the front foot and were soon creating several goalscoring chances.

However, good goalkeeping and strong defensive play by Asfordby meant the scoreline was even at half time. The 2nd half saw the game open out and The Town Girls were allowed more space to pass the ball around.

As the pressure was increasing on the Asfordby goal, Maddie finally broke the deadlock with a good finish from a corner. Izzy then added a 2nd soon after to put our magnificent parents at ease.

The girls saw out the game to avoid the dreaded penalty shoot out.

All the girls played excellently. Lara and Alice made excellent runs in attack, Bella was an absolute rock at the back, Soph gave her usual box to box performance, Mia was taking on girls twice her size, and Maddie was a pillar in midfield.

A special mention however, must be made of Izzy. Despite not feeling well before kick off, she was outstanding, and the epitomy of how this group of girls all play for each other.

We would finally like to say a big thank you to Asfordby, who were excellent hosts and a very good team, and to Unipart Group for their continued support.
