BUGBROOKE 4 RUGBY TOWN WOMEN 4
(PENS 4-3 Bugbrooke)
What a fantastic advert for women’s football.
This match was a see saw encounter. Rugby were first to score before Bugbrooke scored twice to take the lead. On the stroke of halftime Chloe scored her second with a spectacular shot from 30 yards out.
The second half was level until the 80th minute when a great passing move from Rugby created an opening for Chloe’s hat trick. Bugbrooke pushed forward and 5 minutes later equalised. Both teams went looking for the winner and in the last minute of normal time Chloe played a one-two and netted for her 4th. Rugby thought the tie was won but a punt into the box late in injury time, Bugbrooke headed their fourth which took the tie to penalties.
Rugby had the advantage early in the shoot out but 2 late misses gave the victory to the home team.
