Our Under 7 team played their first home game of the season on a lovely Sunday mourning against Dunton & Broughton, and the girls were very excited to play at Butlin Road for the very first time.
From the early moments you could see that the Rugby team were a bit too strong and experienced for their opponents. It seems a strange thing to say in only their second game but it was true.
The Dunton & Broughton girls tried really hard from the first minute to the last and had some moments near the Rugby goal, but Rugby generally dominated the play and most of the action was in the Dunton & Broughton half.
Having said that, Rugby still needed to play well and they certainly did. Particularly pleasing was the way that they kept to the diamond formation they learnt in training, along with some superbly accurate and powerful shooting from distance which would have troubled any team.
Player of the match this week was Scarlett
Scarlett had a wonderful game and really enjoyed herself. Scarlett played mostly in attack, making some strong and speedy runs forward and demonstrating some great shooting skills too. Well done Scarlett!
