First away game of the season and a trip to Coalville.  Rugby were without their normal goalkeeper for this match so Jasmine and Anya deputised and did a half each, happy birthday Liv by the way. They both did really well considering they don’t normally play in goal.
Rugby started off the game brightly by creating a couple of chances from crosses that caused a bit of panic in the Coalville defence. Shortly after it was a great example of how what is worked on in training can be applied to the match. A great cross from Sophia and Ruby gained an early advantage.
Rugby had settled in really well to the game and were also defending really well and not giving Coalville any chances. A goal kick to Sophia and another great cross and this time Chloe was on the end of it to extend
Rugby didn’t have it all their own way in the first half as near the end of the half there was a goalmouth scramble and Coalville scored.
Into the second half and it was more of the same from Rugby, some great attacking moves and very unlucky not to score more goals. The girls were really playing very well and linking up together really well. From a corner and then a couple of passes and Chloe scored again, the Coalville goalkeeper, beaten by a calm finish.
Coalville started to come back into the game near the end of the second half and managed to score two quick goals to make the end of the game a bit more interesting for everybody watching.
Rugby should be really proud of the way they played against a good team, they are really starting to play well and develop a great attacking style of play.
Player of the match – Sophia
Thanks to Simon, Brett and Tristan for coaching a great performance and to all the parents for their support.
