Alice, another of our excellent young leaders features in our latest volunteer profile.
Alice has been with the club since 2015 and has played for the club from U13 though to U16s, mainly as a defender, but has been known to dabble in other positions. Alice has won several accolades whist playing for Rugby Town Girls, including a Best Team Contribution award in her first season and league cup runners up when playing for the U15.
Alice is currently a student at the Aspire 2 Be Football Coaching Academy College at the University of Warwick Campus, where alongside her studies, she also plays regularly for the college team, who are currently doing very well and are through to the quarter finals of the National Cup Competition.
Alice has been a young leader at RTGWFC for the past two years, coaching our younger Wildcats members. Alice completed the FA level 1 coaching course in 2019 as is a fully qualified and licenced coach. This season, she has taken on responsibility for coaching our U9s, who are a newly formed team and have been playing league games since September. Alice plans and runs Friday night training sessions and is also part of the volunteer team who help look after and manage the players on match days.
As well as college football, Alice also plays Futsal, which has also led to another exciting opportunity for both Alice and the club, as she jointly plans and coaches our new futsal sessions on a Tuesday night.
In addition to her volunteer work at RTGWFC, Alice also coaches Hillmorton Boys Minis on a Saturday morning. This has provided Alice with new learning opportunities as she is able to study the different learning styles and preferences of both boys and girls.
Over the last few seasons Alice has also been refereeing our mini soccer games and has also had experiencing refereeing schools tournaments through her college.
Alice is busy making lots of plans for the future, which includes undertaking the FA Futsal course, FA Level 2 coaching and to begin playing for the RTGWFC Women’s team next season.
After completing her National Extended Level 3 BTEC Diploma in sport at college, Alice plans to attend university to study a sports related degree with a view to pursuing a career in the sporting industry.
Alice loves playing football and feels that her young leader experience has enabled her to learn valuable football and life skills which she plans to continue to use to help and develop other girls.
