Meet the Team – Treasurer Pete

Continuing our club volunteer profiles, please say hi to Pete!

Following a serious illness, Pete felt he was given a second chance and fresh perspective and was looking for an opportunity to volunteer at an organisation – Pete loves football, any type of football, which led him to Rugby Town Girls and Women FC.

Pete’s involvement with the club started in 2015 when his daughter, Alice, started playing for our U14s side. Pete was an avid supporter of his daughter and often “volunteered” for linesman duty as well as supporting the team as the respect officer.

In 2017, Pete responded to a club need for more volunteers to assist in the running of the club and stepped into the essential role of club treasurer.   Pete has been working in the finance industry for over 30 years, so brings a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to his club role.

Pete is our resident iTeamMate expert; which is our online, paperless, members system and takes responsibility for club memberships, supplier invoices and club expenditure.   Pete’s management of the club accounts means we maintain and demonstrate the continued profitability of our club.

Pete involvement in the club grew further in 2018 when he began to assist in the running of the our U16s team. Although not having been involved in football for several years, Pete rose to the challenge and, proving that you are never too old to try something new, undertook the FA Level 1 coaching course in 2019 and is now a licenced coach.

As many of our club volunteers do, Pete has also completed various welfare, safeguarding and first aid courses to ensure that our club is a safe, inclusive and happy environment.  Pete enjoys using his business knowledge and skills to use to support the club, and enjoys seeing his daughter Alice, who is also a club young leader and coach, develop her roles.

Pete is always learning about how grassroots football works and feels proud when he sees our members demonstrate the qualities you associate with good football teams.
