For our inaugural club volunteer profile, we would like to introduce you to Jill. Jill holds several crucial roles at the club: committee member, event coordinator and school / press liaison.
The PR work Jill does on behalf of the club has meant we regularly get very positive publicity in the local press, such as the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby Observer. Jill ensures we get coverage of our major news events including open days, venue move and events. Regular publicity ensure that we maintain our visibility in the local community and continue to attract new members to the club.
Jill has also completed welfare officer training so that she has the skills and knowledge to ensure all our players have a safe place to play football and have fun.
Jill’s passion and expertise really comes to the forefront when planning and executing club events. Jill organised the first ever RTGWFC Christmas party and has subsequently organised two more. This event is much loved and well attended and allows the members to socialise off the football pitch.
The premier social event of our calendar is the annual end of season event. Jill plays a key role in planning the event, held at the Benn Hall in Rugby, and ensuring things run smoothly. Our end of season event provides the opportunity for all our members and their families to come together and reflect on the season and celebrate the successes of the teams and the club.
As well as working on activities that benefit the whole club, Jill is also heavily involved in the administration of our U15s team. Recently, Jill worked with the U15s on team building, conduct and the creation of a vision statement for the team. It is the first time this type of activity has been undertaken, and the benefits to the team were immense.
When asked what draws Jill to commit a very substantial amount of time to volunteer at RTGWFC, Jill said “…working with a wide range of volunteers and bringing together fun events for children and young people – so they can have fun on and off the pitch!”
