A squad of 14 girls turned up enthusiastic to come away with the win and three points. The first half kicked off with a slow start from the girls with Nat going down injured and having to come off, closely followed with Sarah coming of injured after colliding with the goalkeeper. This led to Bailey being moved from defence to upfront and a tactical change to three at the back.
A few opportunities were seen from Rugby but were unable to score until a corner from Cheyanne ended up in the back of the net. A few minutes later Sophie Cook charges down a player to win a throw in which was taken quickly to Katie A who shoots and gives Rugby a 2-0 lead.
The second half begins and Rugby keep the same formation with Em leading the centre of defence. A few more opportunities are seen by Rugby who have shown skill within their football this game. Bailey takes her first opportunity of the game and gets her first goal of the season and gives Rugby a nice 3-0 advantage. A few shots were seen by both Sophie Cook and Charlotte. Bailey got another two goals giving her a hat-rick and a 5-0 score for Rugby. The midfield were passing well and helping the defence when needed with Beth owning her area. Amy has a shot from outside the box with a great save from the Chelmsley goalkeeper ending the game with a 5-0 win for Rugby.
Overall, a fantastic game from the team and keeping their first clean sheet of the season. Rest needed for both Nat and Sarah.
Let’s continue this winning streak of 4 out of 5.
