New opposition for Rugby and Allexton turned out to be a strong and talented team.
After an excellent performance in our last game versus Loughborough hopes were high of a good performance.
Rugby started the game really brightly, matching Allexton in all areas of the pitch and took a deserved early lead through Hollie. Unfortunately this sparked an immediate response from Allexton and within a minute the score was 1-1. Rugby continued to compete well in the early stages of the match and it looked like being a close game, but it was becoming apparent that Allexton had some very quick and skilful players, particularly in midfield. Allexton started to put pressure on Rugby and unfortunately goals followed. Allexton scored a further 6 goals before half time with Rugby starting to lack a bit of confidence as the half played out.
Half Time
Allexton and New Parks 7 Rugby 1
The second half carried on where the first half left off. Allexton dominated the play and Rugby struggled to create any goal scoring chances. Numerous substitutions were made and players changed positions in an attempt to freshen things up. Despite some resolute defending at times, Allexton added a further 4 goals in the second half.
Final Score 11 Rugby Town 1
A game which started so brightly for Rugby ended up as a very disappointing result.
Player of the match was Cait, who played in attack and midfield, battling tirelessly for the entire 80 minutes.
