Rugby Town Ladies Development v Alvechurch Ladies

Rugby Town Ladies Development 4-2 Alvechurch Ladies

The Dev side were at home this week to Alvechurch ladies and started brightly with some lovely passing using Cheyanne breaking down the left wing to whip in some early crosses testing the Alvechurch defence.

Rugby won a corner which after a goal line scramble, saw Amy react the quickest and open the scoring with a birthday goal! 1-0 Rugby

Nat, Amy and Katie A by this time were bossing the midfield with strong charges coming from Charlotte down the right.

Lucy, Bailey and Soph were strong in defence and composed to run a high line catching Alvechurch offside as they tried to breakthrough.

A number of injuries forced some shifting about through the game with Katie B, Soph Cook and Emma subbing in.

Bobbie had a couple of chances before half time and Sarah’s pace threatened the visitors regularly.

It was Bobbie who got the breakthrough to put the home side 2-0 up with a well timed pass from Cheyanne to put her 1 on 1 with the keeper, slotting it home.

Alvechurch pulled one back at the end to see the half finish 2-1 Rugby.

In the second half a rested Amy came back in to the game driving at the Alvechurch ladies who couldn’t handle her strength.

Chances started to open up again and Sarah got on to the score sheet this time to make it 3-1.

Bailey at the back was keeping Alvechurch from breaking through with some well timed challenges and interceptions, when Alvechurch did breakthrough Beth kept the ball from finding the net.

Without Katie A in midfield it was Charlotte and Nat providing the strength in tackles and winning the ball back.

Sophie Cook on return from injury showed some excellent skills to get the moves going forwards and it was hard work and pacy running that saw Rugby again get on the scoresheet via Bobbie for her second and Rugby’s 4th.

Alvechurch who never gave up stole one straight back but it simply wasn’t enough to stop Rugby from winning 4-2.

Bobbie even had time to lie down for a little rest….

The 2 Dave managers were a lot happier this week that the side are linking up better and being more composed with the ball.
