Rugby Town Girls U8 Wildcats V Asfordby Amateurs U8 – 7th October 2018
Rugby Town Squad – Freya, Chloe, Anna, Holly, Megan and Matilda
Today we were at home and wow what a show the under 8s put on.
This bunch of girls are high pitched and high energy, they warmed themselves up with no adult direction. I over heard them saying they should work on their positions before the game and do some goalie practice.
They started as they meant to go on strong and in formation. Freya made the most of the ball when it landed at her feet and was confident with Chloe by her side up front. Anna and Matilda held up the defence with Megan once again taking her preferred starting position in goal.
Holly then came on and took her turn on the field. Keeping a constant eye on the ball and holding her position firmly in defence.
Matilda had some good runs up the wing with Anna clearing the ball when it came her way.
The second half saw Matilda in goal. Megan now had energy to burn and she soon managed a run for the target. The girls have clearly been listening at training. They were marking well, clearing well and implementing their newly taught skill of turning with the ball.
Again I cannot express how proud I am of this team. They will be a force to be reckoned with if the progress over the 5 weeks is anything to go by.
Thank you to all the parents, coaches, u16s, Maddie (our new signing) and anyone else who came and cheered the girls on.
Thank you Loz Bliss for coaching the girls, Lauren (u16s) for refereeing and Stu Bishop who has become the teams official photographer.
Player of the match this week went to Anna for great turns on the ball and clearing it so well.
