A trip up the M6 to top of the table Castle Vale for the Ladies Development this week in what was always going to be a tough challenge.
Rugby started off slower of the two sides and were down with 10 minutes when the long ball over the top paid off for the home side, catching Rugby out with a bit of pace.
The ladies lost a bit of their width as the play continued and Vale continued to press. Sarah picked up knock and was replaced by Meg. The home side pressure eventually told and half time saw Vale 4-0 up.
A bit of a regroup at half time and Rugby reset themselves and started playing better football. A few chances went begging before Bobby got on the scoresheet. Beth kept Rugby in the game with some amazingly strong keeper stops and tackles.
Overall a much improved second half saw the defence work better as a unit and Rugby battle harder and get breaks, but unfortunately these weren’t converted.
Final score: Castle Vale Town Ladies 7-1 Rugby Town Ladies Development
