The u10s travelled to Cosby today where they put on a valiant display. Everyone of them should be proud of themselves playing their first ever season against girls from an higher academic year. Unfortunately they only had 5 players and even though the opposition also dropped to 5, there was just too much pitch to cover, Cosby also had a strong bench to call on. So despite a strong start where they seemed to be coping well with early pressure, as legs tired the older oppositions size and experience started to pay off.
However they all gave 100% right until up to the final whistle. ‘Girl of the match’ was Poppy who was running box to box and dribbling past 2-3 players on occasion. Sophia led the attack well along with poppy making the other team work. Connie, Isabel and bethany worked well as a defensive unit under sustained pressure. If they can transfer to the u9s league, which is the correct league for their ages, they should really come on as a team.
