The under twelves made the long trip to Bottesford on the back of three defeats in the league and cup. The pre-match talk was quite simply the result does not matter it the way we play that counts.
The girls got off to a fine start not letting Bottesford settle on the ball and the girls were passing and using the ball intelligently. There was some fine link-up play between Mimms and Danielle which was causing Bottesford no end of problems. With Olivia dominating in centre midfield and Elle causing problems on the left it was only a matter of time before Rugby took the lead with some fine link-up play from Mimms and Daniella for Mimms to put Rugby a goal up. Rugby could have gone further ahead after some great link-up play down the right and a great cross from Daniella only for the chance to go over the bar.
At halftime, the team talk was simple to keep playing the way you are and the goals will come.
Rugby started positively but Bottesford was more motivated and started to press a bit more, however, Freya and Maddie were determined not to concede today they were winning everything and playing out from the back with style, on the rare occasion Bottesford did get through Nathalie was in goal to deny them. Rugby went on to score another three goals all by Mimms and all well taken
The pleasing thing from my point of view was the way the girls played some of the movement was superb at times we were defensively solid and it was good to see us using the ball intelligently from the back. The midfield was solid as well with lots of intelligent play from Oliva, hard work and a never give in attitude from Elle and some great wing play from Daniella and some fine work from Amaani. Up front, Mimms was just on fire.
