Rugby Town Girls u11s v Leicester City Ladies u11s

U11s Girls Sponsors: Lisa Collins Hair Design and Caring Help at Home Ltd

The girls played today’s game on a very muddy pitch which held the ball up and caused issues with grip. The team had to adapt their play, concentrating on their passes rather than dribbling.

The corner work we have been doing in training is paying off with some fantastically well thought out deliveries being made allowing significant pressure to be put on Leicester’s goal. Throw ins were taken well, even with the ball stopping dead in the mud.

Sophia made some good saves throughout the game and communication with the team was much better this week. Sophia’s kit didn’t fare so well! Ellie and Ella worked well in defence to limit Leicester’s opportunities on goal. Ella in particular showed great awareness of positioning.

Mia had another fantastic week in the defensive midfield position, seeing a huge amount of action and working very well in feeding the ball to the forward players with some awesome penetrative passes. Evelina also had a period in the defensive midfield and played with commitment and determination.

Kelsey, Elle, Evie, Tasha took turns in wing and forward positions and are building great partnerships up front, which is fantastic to see. Kelsey displayed some confident skills, impressive given the condition of the pitch. Evie and Tasha worked hard to move the ball forward and Elle was speedy and agile in her play. Our forward players are really starting to improve their teamwork which is great to see. Hannah had some busy periods on the left wing, and is developing a keen interest in being our nominated corner taker, in which she is developing a good technique.

We were very pleased to welcome Ava in her first match for the U11 girls and she had a strong and confident period in defence.

Well done girls another positive home game, let’s see if we can continue this away next week. Further passing practices on Friday to really help to develop in this area.
